Build a Free Website
Many of the best ways of making money on the internet involve having a website. You can always purchase a web domain name and hosting, but it's also possible to save your money and build a free website. Remember, the less money you spend the less money you need!
Here's an article I wrote a while ago about building a free website:
How to Build a Free Website
Despite the demise of Geocities and other once-popular free website hosts, there are still many companies who offer free web hosting. These range form blogging sites such as Blogger or Livejournal, social networking sites such as Myspace, to sites offering a more complete package such as Freeola, Wix, Yola, or Weebly.
Most free web hosts also offer a site-builder facility. This is an easy-to-use interface which allows you to add and edit content on your site and create an eye catching design without needing to know HTML.
Here's how to build a free website.
1) If you don't have a junk email account, you may want to sign up for one at Yahoo, Google, Hotmail, or another similar site. Since some of these sites sell their email lists, this will keep your regular email account from getting stuffed with new spam.
2: Go to a free website host and register for a username and password. For example, this site is hosted by Yolasite. It'e easy and it's free.
You'll need a working email address for this step, so that's where your new junk email account will come in handy.
You may have to provide your name and address for this step.
When you've filled out the registration form you'll probably have to check your new email account and complete the registration through a link sent to that address.
3) Once you've established your account, go to the home page of the website host you've chosen and sign in. After you're signed in you'll be able to start building your site.
4) If you haven't already picked a name, you'll have to do it now. This will become your free website name and also part of the website address. If you're looking to do some SEO, make sure you put your main topic in the title.
5) Use the website builder interface to add text, images and other content.
Many sites are simple "drop & drag" sites. This means that you simply click on something on a list and drag it into the work area. Choices are generally things like text, photos, advertising, widgets, and such. Do a little experimenting and you'll figure it out in no time at all.
6) Once you're happy with the content, make sure you have spellchecked all your text and taken out things that might cause it to display incorrectly. Most sites will provide a "preview page" link that allows you to see the page before you publish it.
7) Save your work and publish.
8) That's it. You're done! You've built a free website. Be sure to add content often if you want to build a following.
